whats the significance at the end when Jude Laws charcter see's his ex's name on the black in the garden??

Wow, the first guy who answered was a little snippy. His link has nothing to do with the movie. Second answer's link says nothing about the film. Too bad we can not penalize for ignorant answers. Below is the reason behind the name in the garden.

Dan goes into the grave yard that he took Alice to in the first part of the movie. And there is a plaque with the name "Alice Ayres". Alice is not really Alice, she is really jane jones. The point is her whole relationship with the Jude Law charachter was a sham and a lie.

I don't remember the details terribly well, and didn't think it was all that great a film. Did he perhaps realize that his ex had lied to him about her name, ie she had simply read it in the park?

Bit of a rip-off from Usual Suspects, if that is the case.

Because it wasn't her real name....when they walked by there in the beginning of the movie, she took that name and told him it was hers.....Her real name was Jane Jones, the name she gives to Clive Owen when she is at the strip club with him....
