If the rain forests produce most of the earth's oxygen, why are we destroying them at alarming rates?
People are greedy. That's why.

it makes absolute sense. I mean they are all about 'Save The Panda, Don't Kill The Habitat!' i think that they just want money out of it, saying to give donations while killing the habitat an acre at a time. that was an EXCELLENT question! Happy Holidays!

ok i'm no longer a preacher yet i am going to offer it a shot. GOD created the Earth and all living issues. perchance on the instantaneous all the animals that all of us recognize of or do no longer recognize of were no longer round on the instantaneous. perchance GOD created those animals sometime after he flooded the Earth. i do not keep in ideas the the position I pronounced it on the internet yet i imagine that it develop into on the Island Down less than, they got here upon a snake that they or the different usa had no longer heard of. i am going to understand the position you're coming from because i'm accountable of the same question. I do believe in GOD and considering that i believe then GOD presented for all issues on the instantaneous. As for all the human beings that he punished at the same time as he flooded the earth GOD had to ascertain he were given all those that were accountable of Sin because all were uncovered to sin. like the same element is going on in the present day all international are doing about the same element or perhaps worse. He pronounced what the flood did to the Earth and he stated he does no longer do this again. Then he despatched CHRIST to die on the flow so all sins may be payed for. the in effortless words seize to it is i ought to believe in Christ and stick with his preaching. Like I say i believe in Christ yet like others on the planet I nevertheless sin; and that my buddy is incorrect. i do not tell different human beings that I do more beneficial than they because i'm a sinner myself. thanks for the question, Bulldog

Have you been to China recently? Or any small Asian country? People are literally living on top of each other. I have been working and living in Asia for years now, and trust me. They need more room. I do believe that more conservation efforts need to be happening, but what are they going to do? In these countries, they have no land, no natural resources. Recycling and conservation has been THE LAW here for quite awhile. In America, we just have the option. They are trying to make their situation work, and sometimes people must come first.

I agree with mustang, if we promote civilisation, democracy and human rights so much, why did we go into Iraq (and we are still there!!!)???

we should clean up our backyards, not tidy up other people's garden!

btw, I never trust what the TV said about the East. That is probably that only thing they can find, and make a fuss of.

China is not getting rid of pandas, she is breeding them - I won't blame you, BBC never reports that.

Well there are some chinese who don't care for the pandas even though pandas are their icons(mine as well) all they care are money money and more money, because we chinese care only for business but some tend to take advantage Mother Nature.
And oh yeah thank you for being worried about animals it's nice to know that some still cares about animals....

sad isn't it? the panda is china's own animal icon or symbol to the rest of the world, in the same way the eagle is to america and the lion to the english/british. and its not as if they have harmed or killed anyone, is it?

it seems all too common nowadays, the panda, the Siberian tiger all heading for extinction, whilst there representing governments do little or nothing about it. they seem quite happy to let rest of world advertise on TV for donations to save them.

Yes, I completely agree. Humans are very careless and tend to be very selfish when it comes to the earth and natural resources. I'm glad many more people are noticing this issue. Hopefully something can be done.

yes exactly. iv'e been watching that programme 'extinct' as well. it beggars belief that the panda is their own icon, and their the ones who are destroying its habitat! the goverment should be pulled up on this matter really as its their self-doing!

because the locals need the bamboo to survive and make a living- often they are not deliberately trying to get rid of pandas. it's still not acceptable, though.
