crying helps you feel better

Crying is spiritually and physically healing. It allows the body to release toxins that are built up by holding in emotions. People cry when they're sad and when they're happy. They can even cry during meditation. It causes the body to inhale deeply which clears the lungs and it alternately tenses and relaxes the body which helps to push clean refreshed blood into the extremities.

Crying simply heals.

Probably for the same reason that some cry when they are happy. Rush of emotion. Release.

Funny, I was just looking this question up two seconds ago. It's a release of painful emotions. I tend to repress all of my negative emotions... I wish I could cry, but don't really know how. No matter how shitty I feel. Sucks.
