let it be x/y
from the given condition x/(y+4) = 1/2 or y+4 = 2x ...1
numerator is 3 less than denominator 2
x = y-3

so y = x + 3 ... 2

from 2 put in 1

x+ 7 = 2x

x = 7
so y = x+3 = 10
number = 7/10

Let the denominator be N and denominator be D:

Given 1: If denominator of the fraction is increased by 4 the new fraction = half
Therefore N/D+4 = 1/2

Given 2: If we cross multiply
2N = D + 4 ...... (1)

The numerator is three less than the denominator
Therefore N = D - 3 ...... (2)

Subtract equation (1) and (2)
N = 7
Therefore the numerator N = 7

Subtitute value of N=1 in Equation 2
7 = D - 3
There the denominator D = 10

Original fraction = 7/10

The original fraction is x/y

If the denominator of a fraction is increased by 4, the new fraction is equal to one half

So

x/y+4 = 1/2
2x = y + 4

The numerator is three less than the denominator

So

x + 3 = y

Now we have our two equations

2x = y + 4 (1)
x + 3 = y (2)

Substitute (2) into (1)

2x = x + 3 + 4
2x = x + 7
x = 7

Now put the value of x into (2)

7 + 3 = y
y = 10

The fraction is 7/10

Let the numerator be n.
Therefore demoniator = n+3

The original fraction is n/(n+3)

If we increase the denominator by 4, the fraction becomes n/(n+7)

So, n/(n+7) = 1/2
Cross multiply, we get 2n = n+7
Minus n on both sides, n = 7

Therefore, the original fraction is 7/10.

let the fractiom be x/y

x = y - 3 (when y + 4, x = y/2 + 2)
x + 4 = y - 3 + 4
x + 4 = y + 1 (substitute x = y/2 + 2 into equation)
y/2 +6 = y + 1
y/2 = 5
y = 10
x = y - 3 = 10 - 3 = 7

therefore, fraction = 7/10
