Thinking of putting a refrigerator in garage in which temps can vary from below freezing to 100 degrees or more
Is this advisable

The compressor may have to work harder in the summer, but not as hard in the winter, so it should last nearly as long as one kept in the kitchen although power usage would depend on the model's energy rating and the condition of the door seal.

No problem except when the temps get below freezing. Eventually, the contents will also freeze. If it has a water line you will be in for big trouble when the garage freezes. Suggestion: insulate your garage and put a small space heater in it for winter months to keep the garage temps above freezing. On the other hand a freezer works pretty well in a garage. Lots of folks put them there.

Yes, I have seen many refridgerators out there.

I would insulate the garage first, so that the thing doesnt heat up tremendously...(remember, the refridgerator must get rid of the heat, so you dont want to have it tremendously hot in the garage).

The cold will not affect it unless it goes way below zero, then you may have a problem with that...(freon is a gas that is going in the coils and you dont need to freeze the gas back into aliquid in the coils!)...

I wish you well..

Your neighbor is full of ****. Get a copy of the deed and suvery and if the workers show up, inform them that they (or your neighbor if he is doing the work himself) are trepassing on private property and if they (he) refuse to leave, call the police. You neighbor sounds like a real ******. The only way to deal with people like these is to be an ******. If you don't stop this now, it will be much harder in the future to correct it. If he does build a fence, you should have every legal right to tear it down, since it is your property.

It will work. But, if you live in a winter climate the refrigerator contents will freeze. I had a refridge in my garage and the garage wasn't insulated. The contents of my refridge (ie, soda, water) froze. It did not harm the refrigerator.

It will cost you extra. Like a few have said, it takes a little more elec to run it in the summer. This is a fact. Make sure you keep it filled up. That way it does not take as long to cool back down. When you first put it in, put gallons of water, or bags of ice in it to help it cool down faster. A little tip..

No issues. Check with the vendor the recommended room temperature for refrigerator to work.

Yes it can. It will run fine just so long is it has electricity and its not left open frequently in the high temperatures.
