The story idea is good but you do need to think it through. What you have here is a description of a story rather than a first chapter. There is huge scope in the story line for a really good story but you will need to plan it out before you start. You seem to have a contradiction when you say that children etc will be killed off. If life is that bad then the death rate will also be enormous and the killing of children and stopping the birth of others will soon decimate the population. You need to describe the world in the future in a bit more detail and introduce the main character so we know who she is how old she is who the father of her child etc etc. You need to decide what is going to happen to her baby and what she is going to do about the conditions on earth in that time or whether the problem will be eased by the intervention of nature in the form of a global disease. Have a good think about what could happen, plan it out and then write it. Good luck with your story.

Oh yes, it is, but to me seems very alike to "Underworld", the movie, though in the movie the war was between vamps and werewolves, but there was also a guy who was becoming a vampire and lycan at the same time.
But, keep going, seems interesting, for real.

Could be interesting. Josh Whedon type vamps, or darker than that?
