Brian Lara of West Indies scored 28 runs in an over bowled by t R.J. Peterson of South Africa in the sequence of 4, 6, 6, 4, 4, 4
in the 1st Test Match of Sir Vivian Richards Trophy Tournament 2003/2004 played at New Wanderers Stadium, Johannesburg from 12th to 16th December 2003. South Africa won that match by 189 runs.
S.T. Jayasuriya of Sri Lanka have scored 30 runs in an over in One Day International Match twice, once against Amar Sohail of Pakistan in Singapore in 1995-96 and second time against C.Z. Harris of New Zeland at Sharjah in 2000-2001.

In test cricket it is Brian Lara with 28 runs - 2x6, 4x4 - off RJ Peterson. SA vs WI 2003-04
In ODI it is ST Jayasuriya with 30. He did it twice - against Pakistan and New Zeeland.

I only know of Sir Garfield Sobers who scored 36 runs in an over.
