check the settings on your firewall, an outgoing port may be blocked.

check the mail settings again to make sure you are using the right mail protocol. should be either IMAP or POP3.

make sure you have the right settings for your mail servers, check settings for both the outgoing and incoming mail server. check to see if you need to use Authenication on your outgoing mail server.

If you are sure all your settings are correct, call your ISP tech support. They will walk you through the setup again and if you are correct that everything is as it should be they maybe able to help you solve the problem. They see this same thing many times a day and have the experience to advise you. And as far as I know they don't charge.

Do you have Norton Antivirus on your system? it is one of the known causes of problem with outlook sending email. I got rid of it, was experiencing the same problem and had to keep restoring back to before the problem would start.. the problem with Norton is trying to get it removed from your system.. they have so many catches, you almost have to get them to tell you how to do that..

Good luck

Oh, I did change to AVG which WAS free at that time but is now going to buy it now.. as of next month.
