What would you do if someone you love and have respect each other and him/she, slapped right in the middle of crowed where everyone know you both and you mitual respectable relations and you do not want to degrade him/herself and yourself?

I guess my first urge would be to give it right back to them, but that obviously would only inflame things - but that's me.
I'm not sure that you could or should save the other person embarrasment - they slapped YOU after all, but you can look after yourelf.
The dignified thing would probably be to walk away and take a bit of time out to think about the relationship, the love might be there, but respect? You don't strike someone you supposedly think highly of in public - or in private for that matter.

I would be REALLY upset and definelty re-evaluate if that person needs to be in my life. Noone has the right to lay a hand on you for any reason. If this has happened to you, I urge you to leave and never look back...I promise you will not regret it.
