Having lived in both countries- the answer is that neither Australian nor American truthfully state that elements of their country are better than the other.
For example, Australia has many fine points, such as well-integrated races, less wealth gaps, good public health & education, excellent pharmaceutical assistance, reasonable public transport, low crime, a fairly corruption-free government and a less materialistic,. commercialisitic society among many others.
However, America has a far superior and lower taxation system, much more efficient bureaucracy, an extremely and inquisitive albeit naive, slightly ignorant and occasionally proroqiual population, a far more 'can-do' attitude, fqr more opportunities, and a far less Marxist opposition party and way less militant unionism which hamstrings business.
In short, both are good, but both have their problems- perhaps Australia is better suited to the content slightly idle middle-class, whereas America is more suited to the dynamic entrepreneurial person.

Because they only know about their own country. Totally self obsessed I'm afraid. While its a pretty subjective question, Australia is definately a more livable country in many regards. It even has the number 1 ranked city in the world. Melbourne.
I am sure alot of American's couldn't even find Australia on an atlas.
Oh and one more thing to the herbal guy above me, clearly Australia also has a better education system.

thats a typical australian thing to say. especially when most of autralia is filled with long dusty roads with no one within miles of you. you think your better because you still cant tell the difference between your self and that old tree out front. Ausies are stupid. You are too. You think your country is better. have you been this way before. I've been to australia. Its nice but not nearly nice as where i live. Thats why i live in the 1st most expensive place in the world. And that why when you go to australia you can buy last for a few hundred dollars. No one wants to live in your land. Every year austrlia's population goes down and the us goes up. hmmmm i wonder why. You ausies can suck my cock.

They won't, coz no country can claim 100% that his country is better than others. Each country has a wonderful and ugly side to it whether it's a rich nation or a third world country.

No country is better than anyone's. Each country is bless with their own gifts no matter how rich or poor they are. Quit spreading negative comment and spread only peace.

Every contact that I have had with Australian Men has been horrible. They are rude, impatient, domineering and treat women like second class citizens. Sorry, it's the truth. I wasn't treated bad by them because I am horribly disgusting and mean either, actually I am pretty cute, compassionate and nice. Just left a bad impression w/me several times over.

because the poor yanks don;t know any better it is not their fault that they are ignorant of the world it is the government that have that restricts what they know of the world if the poor buggers knew the USA would be a empty land & all the yank's would be aussies
