Two ounces of regret.
Two ounces of wanting to make things better.
One ounce of taking away the pain if you could.
Two ounces of unconditional love.
Three ounces of wanting to be forgiven.
Two ounces of not holding a grudge.
Whisk all ingredients briskly, pour into a glass and serve warm.

This recipe has been with my family for generations:
1 tbsp of humility
1 tbsp of regret
2 tbsps of love
1 cup chopped ego
A dash of hope
Combine first 3 ingredients in a saucepan over medium heat. Keep stirring until thick, then add chopped ego. Turn off heat when it starts to boil. Pour into a cup, garnish with a dash of hope. Serve while hot to the person you offended.
I love Blue October . . . "Into the Ocean"

From the song,
“Give me recipes for sorry
I'm admitting I'm wrong
Still your memory that punches me
has broken the bone”
I would say that to strive to forgive,... strive for forgiveness’ is the best we can do at times. Fortunately for our caution we can never forget. Release the hurt (forgive) and you release the punch that the memory delivers.
Just my humble conclusion

Yes, but not every person likes the same recipe. Sometimes you have to change ingredients to make sure it works.

depends on the situation, but the most common way people do it is to say it in a sincere manner. If you are not sincere, it's probalby not worth much.
