America is still a "child" on the world stage, do not forget that she is just over 200 years old when many countries of thgis earth have had civilizations for centuries.

Americas history is rather truamatic and one of turmoil, in it short age it has gained independance though a War, fought a civil war , fought several wars with neighbors ( both Canada and Mexico) and has taken on some of the worlds biggesy nations in wars.

What it has never done is allow all people to share it very own beliefs and rights until recent years. These are the rights it has fought for over seas and at home.

One of the biggest disgraces America has had to face in its history is that of slavery, it was not until the late 60s that even in American Blacks were treated equally as whites.

It could be argued that the civil war was fought to free slaves but that is a smokescreen, most blacks did not have equal rights until less than 40 t=years ago in some states , that is less than a generaton.

In many state Blacks are still disenfranchised, often sharing neighbourhoods with low prospects for steady work oreducation, they are still ghettod and still treated badl as well as the subject of hatred from such groups as the KKK.

You are right Americans should vote for a presidentitail candidate , regardless of race or sex. Heaven forbid America could even have a female President one day.

Ubfortunately I do not believe America is mature enough to accept a Black man in the Presidency , or even a women. Even an Black women president.

At the end of the day quality , intellect and suitability for the job are what counts, but does Mister jewish wall street stockbroker want that to be a Black , ...dont think so. Does Mister silver spoon on Rhode Island want a women deciding economic policy ...I dont see it. Would Mister Irish new York be happy with an Iti in the white house Begorrah!!.

That is why America is happy to accept no descript none events Like George Dubya, He is a none event with little impact and doesnt have to be suffered for to long. That way every one can get on and get what they want from the American dream without comprimise.

It's a good Q-It's really hard to say cause America has alot of racism still not only white & black but black supressing black or fueling the fire against whites for whatever reasons to give an example Sharpton & The new Black Panther group down in Durham N.C. when the Duke Lacross thing happened accussing whites being racist .Now that they find out she lied Where is the apology- But Kramer says some remarks and their ready to bring back the civil war unless there is a public apology and money exchanging hands cause their feelings got hurt so I don't know if we'll be ready for a black President.

You might be to young to realize this, but America has a long history of discrimination. It is very unlikely at this point in our history that a black man would be elected president; unless he is a conservative.

Reasoning:

While the democratic party is open to electing a Black man or woman president, the Republicans are not; so to win the Presidency, a black man must run as a conservative. Much like Margret Thatcher in Great Britten.

This country is somewhat infamous for it's racial tension. America being ready for a black president would mean that we have reached another milestone as we travel away from our ignorant past.

We still have a very long road ahead.

You have it a bit confused.. but you are kind of right.....What they are asking is,,,, is America, based on its history READY for a black pres, or are they STILL racist to the point they won't elect one.

It is not a question taken in its literal sense. As in, are Blacks ready to be president.

till one is elected there is not any empirical information to that result. many human beings asked in 1960 if we've been waiting for a Catholic president. We for sure weren't waiting for a Mormon, we've previously had in simple terms one female whilst a working mate, i understand of no person Jewish who has even been that. i will't see the way it particularly is un-American to objectively view the historic checklist and modern balloting varieties and overtly speculate approximately how lots the voters would have surely replaced in in simple terms one technology. could it no longer be far extra un-American to stifle the question and with it public discourse and the unfastened substitute of suggestions?

no, they are referring to the electorate in general and i feel the reason they are asking is obama has a good chance. hes a man of conviction but at the same time can win the idiot liberals over with the politcal correctness angle..in other words he can play botrh sides of the aisle respectively.

They are also asking if we are ready for a female president. I think that we should look at the candidates worthiness to take office, not their color or gender.
