An Assassination is a type of murder. Murder is when you take someones life for whatever reason. An Assassination is when you take someones life for a political reason.

you can tell which is which. Murder is when someone out of choice kills someone for their own reasons, and assassination is when someone is payed to kill someone they probably don't have any connections to.
