Camshaft bearings are typically smaller and hence different than the crankshaft bearings.

Did you say 2 Stroke Marine diesel? I am not sure if 2 stroke diesels exist. How many cylinders is the engine?

the bearing would be held down conventionally i.e. with the outer race in the housing and the inner on the camshaft.
