We learn the basics from our parents while we are still young enough that it becomes a list of do this and do not do that, which kids tend to get frustrated committing to memory. As we grow older, we can start to discern patterns in these rules, and in fact to learn more general rules on which the details are based. This is often described as learning "manners," but it really is morals, too. Eventually, hopefully, we develop a capacity to conform our decisions in a given circumstance to our principles and our True Will.

At this point, the way we learn branches depending on whether you are the sort who believes in externally-based rules like a religion, or internally-based rules like a philosophy. Me, I try for a blend. I try to use the best of all the wisdom available to me.

If we are luck we have good parents that will teach us the difference between right and wrong from when we are little.
So then when we get older we should know whats right and what is wrong but then some times we just have to find out for ourselves
because we think that mum and dad just do know what they are talking about and we tend to do the wrong thing but that's is just a part of growing up.
may God bless you and Merry Christmas

You ignored the completed aspect in spite of the undeniable fact that - why does each and every man or woman could study the teachings for themselves - the not undemanding way. on your issue the wear and tear must be carried out earlier Little Johnny learns his lesson and Little Sally must be made to cry as a fashion as an example him. It is easy to say that the Law defines what is right and what is wrong. On personal basis , right is whatever suits our moral code and causes no harm to people or environment. Wrong is... the contrary!
By asking such a question, I believe you are a right person. That's very good.

You are speaking of morality and we learn it from our parents, grandparents, church and school. Not only do they speak to us of these things, they model it for us (one can hope). My parents were faithful to each other as were the other couples they hung out with. Result - I do not understand and do not tolerate adultery. But oftentimes, each of us must rely on our own resources to resolve this age-old question. Some rely on church, others friends and family, still others their own internal moral compass. Is it right for everyone? Or is it just right for me? If it's wrong, will it hurt someone if I speak out? You get the picture. Good luck with this one...

as a parent for the last 9 yrs i think our main influence is what our parents teach us. thats part of the job of being a parent.and thats what rules are set down for etc. and all those times when it feels like all a parent says to everything is "no" i believe it comes to you while your being raised a good family support system.

Right is not interfering with a person's ability to determine the direction and actions they will take in life, eg free will, not being deprived of their property, etc.

Sometimes we do not learn that, and other times we are aware but ignore it

Our parents and the society/culture in which we live

Sometimes we never do.

The hardest way;
By making mistakes, forgetting them, repeating them many times until we die from them.

The really hard way;
By making mistakes, forgetting them, repeating them many times before we learn to remember them, and then not repeat them.

The hard way;
By making mistakes, not forgetting them, and not repeating them.

The easy way;
By listening to elders, learning morals, and applying the knowledge to our lives, so we never have to make the mistake in the first place.
