The British monarch or Sovereign is the head of state of the United Kingdom and in the British overseas territories. The British monarch is also head of state of fifteen other countries, all of which were once part of the British Empire—these, together with the UK, are known as the Commonwealth Realms. The current British monarchy can trace its ancestral lineage back to the Anglo-Saxon period, and ultimately back to the kings of the Angles. During the ninth century, Wessex came to dominate other kingdoms in England, especially as a result of the extinction of rival lines in England during the First Viking Age, and during the tenth century England was consolidated into a single realm. The English and Scots crowns were united in the person of a single monarch in 1603 when James VI of Scots acceded to the throne of England. The kingdoms themselves were joined in the Acts of Union 1707, to form Great Britain.

Therefore the 'German' and 'British' link is an old one therefore so is the rivalry and indirectly some of the 'bad' feeling. Hitler at one point in the war swung between trying to win Britain over (due to those very deep cultural and historical links) until it became evident that this was not going to happen and the war took a different turn. The queen's 'family name' is Saxe-Coburg from Victoria (and having the Hanoverian, Germanic link), but the name was changed to Windsor in 1917 in order to try and 'bury' the Germanic roots or at least direct public dis-satisfaction away from the monarchy.
So you are right there has been hisorically alot of rivalry and hatred between the two countries, but like it or not the two countries histories and affairs have been intwined and the British monarchy is living proof of that seeming 'contradiction' of cultures which pervades throughout British and Germanic society.

The Queen was born in London, that makes Her English. Her father the late King was born in England and so was the Queen Mother ( albeit to scots parents, just before the dour scots come on saying I am wrong - still makes her English.) The late King's parents, King George V and Queen Mary were born in England, . Queen Victoria, Her Father His Father George III all born in England that takes us back to around 1760 . Are you getting a message here? Therefore how ignorant and arrogant of you to infer (totally incorrectly) that Her Majesty is German. Treachery is still a crime.

As Mary B spoke of, lots of sturdy adult adult males died to end royal tyranny. it may be exciting if the royals had finished civil rights, however, and would desire to style their own social gathering and seek for public help - yet do you think of they could choose their chief, or be anthropological approximately it and enable Mummy come to a decision? in the event that they formed a central authority - mutually as i'd desire to work out Charles at environment and Queen Edward at custom and Media - what approximately Philip? Anne? Harry at community relatives? Aaaargh! It does not undergo thinking approximately!

The British have a THING about Nazis, and NOT about Germans. That you fail to see the difference indicates to me just why people like Mel Gibson are able to get away with making neo-Nazi films.
