Habitants is the name used to refer to both the French settlers and the America-born inhabitants of French origin who farmed the land along the two shores of the St. Lawrence waterway in what is the present-day Province of Quebec in Canada.

In 1924, Madison Square Garden owner Tex Rickard was falsely told by someone that the "H" in the logo of the Montreal Canadiens hockey team stood for "habitant", a French word that in those days was used to denote the farmers of Quebec. Rickard was told that the French players on the team came from the farms and that they were therefore "habitants" or "habs". At the time, the Canadiens were recognized as the French Canadian team of Montreal as opposed to the Montreal Maroons, the English Canadian team. In reality, the team logo of the "C" wrapped around the "H" stands for Club de Hockey Canadien. In 1917, at the founding of the NHL, the team changed its name to that from the previous Club Athlétique Canadien.

Vancouver is a one line team, with one solid forward line, one good pair of D-men. They don't have a good back-up. Luongo is going to get overplayed, combine that with a serious lack of scorers and good defence means he'll face tons of shots and won't win many games.

Personally, I think they should axe Nonis and Vigneault and make some trades to get decent defense, solid finishers up front and an experienced back-up.

i have not heard some thing about the Sens determining to purchase and promoting Spezza for Luongo. I did, besides the indisputable fact that, factor out to a chum on Friday evening that the Sens might want to commerce Spezza after he made some protecting zone turnovers antagonistic to Pittsburgh. His blind passes, customary turnovers and lazy backchecking is a important criminal duty for my section... that's extremely unhappy because Spezza has large upside. The Sens ought to get plenty in go back for him. that's too undesirable that Muckler isn't their GM anymore because he has the balls to make ambitious strikes like he did as Buffalo's GM interior the Nineties.

His defence is that strong like before. Salo keeps getting injured, and they also lost Aucoin. He's a good goalie but needs a bit more support.

It's ok. He's overpaid!!!! He's not really getting enough help from the Canucks defense. I thought he was going to be better though. He's supposed to be one of the top two or top three goalies but his stats doesn't say so.

That just goes to show you how good of a goalie he is. I bet he's wondering why he made the move since nothing has changed!

Yeah I just traded Luongo away for Rolston and Savard. Why do they call them the Habs anyway.
