chat is better substitute for a telephonic conversation as in telephonic conversatio u have more body language for audio visiul medium.start chating.no need for cell phone.

Odd? Hardly. Most teenagers these days DO have cell phones, but I wouldn't go so far as to say it's odd that a 14 year old doesn't have a cell phone. It's hardly a necessity and any 14 year old who thinks it is... should find part time work to pay for it. Cell phones ain't cheap!

To be blunt, yes and no. I'd want my kids to have a cellphone by 14 because kids need to be brought up with technology, and how to use it. The world is changing, fast, and kids need to know how to keep up. Also, if you're stuck, or lost, or just plain scared, a cellphone is a nice thing to have for directions, a lift, or reassurance. Plus, if you're attacked, your phone can be traced via an online service, so people know where you are, or where you were last.
BUT...if you cannot pay for it, and keep it topped up with credit or cannot afford a contract, don't get one. I live by the belief that if you do not have the money to get it, you shouldn't have it. So don't be a burden, pay your way for it, otherwise don't get it.
And if you don't get one, and anyone comments, tell 'em you don't want to be a sheep, you're your own person.

in a way it is cuz it is good to have a phone for talking and saftey when ur out at the mall or somethin like that it is good to have i have had one since i was 11 and i get a new one each year my 7 year old sister has one my brother has one my mom my dad lol i dont know any1 without a cell phone every1 should have one and if u cant afford a real plan get a prepaid those are for the people who dont use it to talk but for emergencys i think phones are great to have!

no i think it is odd for a 14 year old to have a cell phone..i think it's odd for anyone who couldnt do it on thier own to have a cell phone.(so in lamens terms anyone under 18)

Nah, I didn't have my first cell phone till i was 16. Plus, i really don't see why someone that young would need a cellphone.

No, not everyone has to have a cell phone. Although, they do come in handy when you're able to drive, just incase you ever have car trouble.

Not at all. i live in a very populated city and i go out a lot so i have one so the parental units can reach me. But i have to pay half my bill...it's the worst.
