I enjoy practicing on the guitar, but is there a length of time in a day when you can max out your learning for that day? If so, what is the best length of time to pradtice the guitar?

When you lose interest, it's time to quit.

I suppose there is a limit, but if you want to get really good, you'll go past those limits until it becomes second nature. Almost every famous and 'good' guitarist, will tell you they practiced for hours and hours upon end every day. Slash alone has said he practiced up to 12 hours a day when he first started. It doesn't depend so much on what you can hold information-wise. But more so on your determination to play and how much you enjoy playing. If you enjoy playing guitar and want to get good, then why only play for 20 minutes a day? Play until your heart is content and your mind is filled with what you want to know.

Yes I believe there is point a where it stops being productive.I read in a guitar magazine about the minds ability to store information and how you mind can only digest so much information so fast before you reach a point where your mind is "full". It said to take breaks often to let it kind of soak in. This is also a good time to let your left hand to get a break. Take a 15 min break every hour so you don't cause any damage to the muscles in your hand and arms. Playing for hours without a break is more hurt full than help full. Hope this helps.

Yeah there is no limit to practicing

but dont practice until ur hands cant take it anymore
maybe u should try to play ur guitar along with the song that u wanted to practice, then time is not the matter coz u'll enjoy it and u can even feel the energy in you esp. if u practice playing metal songs..

i've tried practicing trivium - entrance of the conflagration in front of my computer.. u can go to youtube to see the video..
but then i realised i've played for 7 hours..

*no limit to practicing, even to everything u're practicing*

theres no limit, it just depends on how much you can learn without stressing yourself out. some people might be able to figure it out in a day, some take a long time, and those people that figure it out in a day are usually rare as hell and end up being famous or something

just play around on it as much as you want during the day and stop whenever you get frustrated with it or angry or tired. stopping after getting upset or frustrated doesnt mean you dont really want to learn, its just that you can only take so much of anything for so long

so just play around and practice as much as you want until it gets frustrating or hard, then just take a break and come back when you feel comfortable doing so
