I agree. I think we are not using our freedoms properly. It's like a very poorly run classroom. The rules are very vague, but we're basically free. I think many other nations have it much bette.r

No, but freedom is such a strange thing to think about. I am free to be protected from killers but killers are not suppose to be free to kill. For every law we lose a freedom, for every lack of a law we lose a freedom just as in this example given. If it was legal for killers to kill i would not be free to not worry about being killed. So really, we can't be any more free or less free at any time due to this. But since the laws set up by people can be broken anyway and they are just suppose to have consequence that may or may not occur, we are actually free to do anything we can imagine and are capable to do. Yet, in the end, I believe that everything is determined anyway since there is no other factor to determine our actions other then our past and maybe genetics, and anything else would have to be attributed to randomness, which is not attributed to free will either. So everyone is entirely without freewill despite their making choices. i would love to hear what anyone has to say in refuting this! or any comments, Brokenthought111@yahoo.com

America has freedom, yes. Too much cannot be defined as there is no measuring stick. Compared to the world, we cannot find the answer since we ARE the world. The entire planet lives in America. Every country is here. We haven't met another civilization, so no measuring stick can be applied. Honestly, I feel we are the limit of ourselves, and since we give the power to others to then tell us what do do, we are not free to do as we wish, but bind ourselves to ourselves. Kinda defeats the purpose of freedom unless we were anarchists. Do you see what I mean?

No, I think our idea of freedom has been distorted and mainly by us, ourselves. We have the notion to believe that freedom allows us to do anything we want. But freedom has been paid for with a huge price by many people before us. Our freedom should never be used to hurt others, it should never be thought of as a right to do something at the expense of someone elses freedom.

I am not sure I believe in such a mythical beast as "too much freedom." Is that the same as "too much liberty," as it would apply to an individual, or do you mean something different when you apply it to the whole country instead of an individual? Or are you in fact applying it to individuals, and you mean "Americans" rather than "America."

But I am still pondering the concept of "too much freedom." What happens when you get too free? What is the danger to being more free than you "should" be? Please amend your question to explain this.

I like the way it is right now. People are talking alot about how our personal freedoms are being taken away, but I haven't really noticed anything personally in my community. Freedoms for american citizens seem about the same as when clinton was in power. Maybe the FBI checks your library records or something, but I couldn't care less. I just think this country has much bigger problems facing it than this overrated erosion of civil liberty.

No I don't.I think Americans have taken for granted our elected and assumed they had our country's best interest as awhole on their minds. We have since found out that while we as a nation were trusting them they were taking advantage of these trusts.Yet one thing we can be proud of is when we as Americans realized the betrayal,we voted their as*es out and put new people in to give them a try.In some countries when the govt. goes wrong the people riot and burn in the streets. In some places when things don't go as expected, even at a sports event the people's reactions are violent. We have a ways to go to bring this country back to where it should be,but the people of America care about our country and the sufferings of other countries, that's why we are so appalled when our govt. acts contrary to our beliefs and constitution.

Nah. Since Bush took office, he has taken away many of our freedoms. America shouldn't worry about having too much freedom.

Absolutely not.

Freedom is one of America's lasting ideals and IF the country starts curtailing freedom then I believe this country will lose its soul.

America is binding themselves with the robes of desire. America's multicultural structure has give too much importance to shape and desire so cultures' ideas have destroyed. America's ideas only come from a group of people who is very clever but they are now bounded with their robes-maybe some kind of monster which created by them.

Freedom of America is in danger because most of the people in America can simply choose their desires instead of America in an emergency situation.
