I am 38 years old with iron production and marketing experience. I want to switch over to computer software / hard ware side. Which course I should opt to get a job in computer field .

see you got a lot of choices. But firstly u have to decide u want to go with CS or ECE.. In ece there is hardware nd software.. But in CS its only software.. As I am also an EC engineer i'l suggest u to go with ECE.. For hardware line u need to do VHDL (VLSI) course, For software again there are many options.. If U hav interest in coding nd programing go for C#, java, oracle..there are so many. But first u have to choose between harware and software.. You want to do programming , networking , computer maintenance.
First basic queation Why do you want work in computer field? What are your likings ?
I am web site developer so easy thing I can tell you to learn HTML, Flash, & some web site design concepts etc... at beginning
then after making your own website public
some server technology like asp.net or coldfusion and SQL.
