I consider this a tightrope kind of question? To say one believes in the devil is often understood one believes in the story/myth of the devil. This does not necessarily have to be the case.
For me, the 'devil' as explained in Abrahamic-based religions (judaism, christianity, islam), undercuts the notion of a supreme being (i.e. how can an all-powerful god create anything that will oppose it, and then claim ignorance as to how that creation will act). However, I do believe that people's need for a evil 'figure-head' has created one: either in terms of a collective thought consciousness or in terms of an individual stepping in and choosing to fulfill that role.
This entity, however, is, like every other entity, merely an aspect of creation, and less representative (and less powerful) than creation as a whole. Also, I believe that because evil is a 'role', not a condition, the destiny of this entity is ultimately to transform and eventually return to creation, along with the rest of us.

Devil and Angel are both in our own minds! We give them different forms to suit our imagination: devil could be a good friend, as in Phantom's (the ghost who walks, or, Mr. Walker!), stories, like the pet wolf of Phantom!

1 Peter 5:8-9
8 Be self-controlled and alert. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. 9 Resist him, standing firm in the faith, because you know that your brothers throughout the world are undergoing the same kind of sufferings.

If your a Xtian the answer is yes Satan is in the bible and The New Testament at that.
So if you believe in god you have to believe in Satan.
for the rest of us it is not a valid question as were not Xtians, so Satan does not exist.
