Probably a miscarriage. Heavy bleeding in early pregnancy isn't a good sign. Especially if the blood is "chunky" or thick. A pregnancy test would probably still detect the pregnancy hormone HCG... so that wouldn't be an effective way of determining if she is still pregnant. She should go to the doctor.

Some women bleed during their pregnancy.
If it is a miscarriage, as a boyfriend, be there for her. Take it from a woman who's boyfriend acted like everything was fine and dandy after this happened. Hug her a lot and reassure her that everything is going to be just fine and that you love her. Don't act like a rock, let your feelings show, because when something like this happens a girl wants to know and feel that you care about her and the baby that would have been.

Its very good that you are taking her to the doctors, It sounds like a miscarriage, I had one also, I was 8 weeks though. The pregnancy test will probably still say she is pregnant, because of the hormones like you said. Good Luck I hope all is well, somethings are meant to be.

It is very common for women to have early misscariages in pregnancy. Many don;t realize and mistake this as a heavy period. It sounds like she could have had a misscarriage but the doctor will be able to tell you for sure. A pregnancy test would appear positive still even she had a miscarriage as the horomones do take time to level out.
Good luck I am sure no matter what you will be great support to your girlfriend

Best to get the doctor to confirm if it was a miscarriage. I hope your girlfriend is feeling ok, miscarriage is pretty awful, and if thats what it was she will need your support. Hope all goes well for you both

If she have not been to a dr yet, she may not have been pregnant and started her period. But if she has been and had a definate positive from a dr. visit, then please go see a dr immediately.
