For Windows '98, you're best bet would probably be to go onto Ebay where you should be able to pick up a genuine disk fairly cheaply now that both Windows '98 + ME are obsolete and no longer supported by microsoft - Operating Systems are general too big to download....... broadband or no broadband.
It's also available for £20 on the Used/New section of Amazon.co.uk while Windows ME is going for £69.99

Alternatively, there's a Linux Distribution called "Ubuntu" available from http://www.ubuntu.com/

You can probably download it from one of the peer to peer networks. However, you will not get the CD key for the disk. As well you might not even get what you think you are getting, as some very dishonest people use those as prankster spots. Even getting what you want, may have more like an embedded virus, trojan, or spyware. If you want to try there is a free program called FileCroc that uses the ARES Network. Your best bet is to ask a local computer geek if they can burn you a copy of 98se (not XP). With XP even if they gave you the key, it would probably still not be able to be activated as Microsoft is very fussy about how many times a key is used. Most of the time twice is the limit, but I have seen them be forgiving. As well, you could get a copy of XP that is only good for the manufacture of the computer, which will do you absolutely no good. I can burn you a copy of 98se and mail it to you for $10.00 which includes a valid key. If this is a system that will never go online, I can do the same for an MIT copy of XP Corporate Professional, but it can not be validated or used on a system that will have Internet access. Fun to play with, but dangerous too! Microsoft classifies this copy as pirated, even though it isn't. MIT students were given it to develop with and discarded it with some older equipment that I acquired. If you are interested in either copy I have mail a check or money order to David Moffitt 3570 Rte. 281 Cortland, NY 13045 or send payment via http://www.paypal.com to crownpc@yahoo.com If you want to try a free version of good Linux, http://www.ubuntu.org will send you a free copy on CD. Hope this helps

You can't.Do not go to an unauthorized site for downloading windows 98 because there are a lot of spyware out there which sneaks into your system follows you wherever you may go.PC's get viruses.Do not be a hero by downloading torrents.I'd suggest you to get it from a computer store.

I'm not sure there is a place to download it since Microsoft no longer supports 95 or 98, plus it's an operating system. If all else fails, you could just download Linux if you can get your programs you want on it to work and everything, Linux is complicated, but it's free.

even "so called computers" need an operating system.

There are lots of free operating systems out there, but win98 isn't even supported by Microsoft anymore. Bill's baby has finally grown up and left home, so people will distribute copys. Do not hesitate to download Windows 98, even if it's stolen, like anyone really cares.
