Some people do not believe that ultrasounds are safe. But there is not much evidence to say that they are not. The vast majority of women now choose to have ultrasounds, so it is likely that if they are not safe, evidence of this would have been seen by now.
It is totally your choice whether to have scans or not. You don't have to. I personally think that it is good to have the basic checks to see if your baby is ok. I know someone who chose not to scan and her baby was stillborn at 30 weeks. I have no idea whether scanning could have prevented that. But it may have detected problems much earlier.
If you are worried, just have one or 2 scans during your pregnancy. That should be all that is required to check your baby is ok.
I had a scan on Friday at 21 weeks and won't be having any more now.

Ultrasound like most devices used can never be classed as 100% safe, personally I think it's still better to use them so that other serious risks to the baby/mother can be dealt with early in the pregnancy. Most things in life have risks, but in this case you have to decide whether early detection of possible problems outweighs the smaller risks of ultrasound, that billions of people have used with safe results. Ultrasound is used for the diagnosis of many other conditions including heart conditions too.

Ultrasounds & other "photo" type of monitoring should only be done by doctors. All OBs even warn against the Ultrasound Keepsake Photo Shops, most OBs are worried too much exposure or improperly tained tech could cause serious harm to baby

Depends on who you listen to. The medical profession believe in them completely. Some complementary people have concerns about ultrasound, particularly with very sensitive babies.
I'm just not sure that they're necessary. To the best of my knowledge any problems with pregnancy or the foetus will show other symptoms before they get picked up on u/s.
If these techniques are needed, they're wonderful. Why use them when they're not?
As a complementary therapist I do have reservations, but don't just take my opinion, listen to lots of different people.
Just really enjoy your baby.

Yes, they are absolutely safe in the hands of a trained professional.
I know for a fact that they are FDA (Federal Drug Administration [of the USA] ) and Canada Health approved.
So go ahead, use the services with total peace of mind.

if the doctor wants you to have a test with one do it, he would not ask you to be tested unless there was a question about the baby and its condition or position. Nothing is 100% safe including having babies.
