both films are mirror images of one another w/ similar references, like Freemasons w/ hidden map on back of Declaration of Independence while other deals w/ Knights Templars and Holy Grail in form of Mary Magdalene.

just curious if Jerry Bruckheimer & co. took creative "notes" from the screenplay adaptation of Dan Brown's novel, though Treasure was released in theatres before Code................

The theories presented in Da Vinci code and National Treasure existed long before Dan Brown or Jerry Bruckheimer. They were merely adapted into different stories. Since the big hype over The Da Vinci Code, such theories were selling and popular and thus National Treasure could finally be produced. Both producers "borrowed" from ancient myths, not from each other. Of course both films are mostly fiction based on a few facts. The whole hooha over everything is way out of line.

In my opinion, someone in Bruckheimer's organization decided that they wanted a story that was like the DaVinci Code but without the controversy. So someone came up with a thrilling world-spanning treasure hunt using real life locations and historical conspiracies, only based on the "secret lives" of the Founding Fathers instead of Jesus and Mary.

I think they suceeded. I loved the movie.

in case you dont know history and its clear you dont.....

If you look at the two stories there is a major connection between the two.

Way back in history there was a group called the Templer Knights.

Some say they worked for King Arthor (knights of the round table (maybe)).

they went to jerusalem with one thing in mind.... find the holy grail.

ok now look at the two movies.

Both are about the holy grail just in differnt names.

Both are connected by what the Knights Templer found or tried to find.

Both are differnt looks at what the holy grail might have been.

national treasure idea was always around. it just never got the greenlight to be produced until the davinici code became popular, then stories and scripts that were similar like national treasure, the librarian on TNT, the last templar were brought out and just rode the wave of the popularity. In other words, the idea was never stolen, just allowed to be produced.

I think no.It's simply because The National Treasure was produced before The Davinci Code. However,in another way of looking,it's story line is similar. The starting part of the movie make people felt puzzled about what the starting part of the mmovie is talkiing about.
