Indeed selling of votes is very pitiable and people should be wise in selecting their leaders. Surprisingly, uneducated Indians are the one who is generating most of wealth out of irrigation and other traditional methods. So, uneducated Indians cannot be ignored in elections. However, measures are to be taken to bring awareness through non-political organisations about the way they choose their leaders.

To the fact, even these uneducated voters are slowly getting intelligent these days, they take money from both the parties and they are casting their votes only to their desired.

This is problem of multi faceted dimension

The problem isn't that they are uneducated. The problem is that they are poor, and are desperate enough to accept this bribery. Being in poverty they probably have a perspective of the world no amount of education can provide, and sadly think that corruption is so bad that they would be better off accepting the certainty of a small bribe, than the uncertainty of good governance.

Not that this doesn't occur in Western countries...

The example you are giving is uninformed or poor people...not level of education. There are very educated people who have no earthly idea of the important issues facing their country. At the same time, there are very formally uneducated people who have a very clear understanding of what is important to the country. The very poor will sell organs for money, so it is not surprising they will sell their votes. The ones I am concerned about are the uninformed.

One thing about the uneducated they can always get educated. Unfortunately alot of politicians want uneducated people so they can dupe them around... This is the fuel that made Boston Tea Parties and all of histories revolutions...
