My English private teacher charges $70 per two hours. Her cancellation policy is 24 hours. In other words I am supposed to cancel at least 24 hours prior to our lesson. Lately I cancelled my lesson too late,12 hours prior to the lesson because of some health problems.
She wants me to pay 100% cancellation fee= $ 70.
Is it fair? How much can she ask me to pay?

It seems pretty steep. Can you find a new English private teacher? I think that I might. Would she be willing to reschedule with you for the same week? That way she still gets paid, but you still get taught?

She should ask you to pay $50 cancellation fee not 70

Did you know about this cancellation fee beforehand? If you did then you should pay her because you knew both about the fee and the 24 hr. policy. If you didn't know about paying that fee, then you should speak to her and try to reach an agreement.

Since you canceled in half the time, you should only have to pay half which is $35.00 That seems fair.
