I recently received an email from an american bank telling me that they have to add more security or something like that because I tried accessing my account with the wrong numbers. Thing is, I am in Australia and do not have an account with them, I have never even heard of them! Is someone trying to do identity fraud with me or something? How do I find out and how do I stop them?

When in doubt bin it, I had a similar thing from a UK bank, I tried to trace it back and even contacted the bank, no one was interested.

Its a scam. Report it to the appropriate governmental agency. In America it would be the FBI. I don't lnow who handles it in Australia. Your police may know, but if they are anything like American police they won't care.
