Make your web pages using Dreamweaver. http://www.adobe.com/.
Use http://www.cjb.net/ for free domains. Log in to your cjb.net domain's account settings page to change the nameservers(eg. dns1.freehostia.com , dns2.freehostia.com). You will get the nameservers when you sign for a web hosting account.
Use http://www.freehostia.com/ as your web host(sign up for an account).

geocities is very easy. I'd use it. Then, if you decide to get a perminant domain, you can upgrade!
