Italians are of Mediterranean origin, which is generally described as the southern EurAsia area (think Greece). It doesnt necessarily matter where a group is now, or "where they are on the map" now. For example, most people dont realize that Spanish people are also of mediterranean origin, because you wouldnt know that by Spains current position on a map.

Some southern Italians do have Middle Eastern blood because they did trade with the Middle East. Especially Venice, their buildings do have Middle Eastern qualities.

No, Italians are Europeans, though many southern Italians might have some Arab or Berber genes due to the fact that many of them invaded Sicily and the southern Italian peninsula.

definitely not. italy is in southern europe, right in the middle between greece and france. nations to the north of the med and east of greece are considered european, while those east and south of greece are considered asians. the middle east is really part of the asian continent, but because of it's location in relation to europe and africa on the west, and the indian sub-continent and russia on the edge of asia, it is called middle east because of it being geographically in the middle of the western and eastern continents. it is also the right at the main juction of the trade routes between east and west.
