I'm usually a really good student and overall, just a very conscientious individual but for some reason I've just found myself not caring at all this semester.
Is it normal for people people--who are normally diligent students--to go through bouts where they just stop caring?
Should I worry?
Have you experienced anything like this?

I was like that once. I remember I was in a college and I would always stop by this Dairy Queen between two classes. This girl working at the DQ asked me one day if I was an Engineering major. I told her yes and asked how did she know. She said she could tell by the way I ordered my food. The next time I stopped by, there she was again. This time she asked me "Why don't I ever smile?" It was an odd question and I told her I didn't know.

Move ahead two years and I still had the same problem. Every so often I would think about what that girl had asked me and I thought about my answer. One day it occurred to me that I wasn't being honest with myself that I didn't know. I did know. I had issues with my family but never said anything about them. One day things came to a head and I let it all out. I said everything I needed to say to the people that needed to hear them. Not to sound to clichéd, but it was like a huge weight was taken off of my shoulders. I wasted a lot of years because of that. These days I'm one of the happiest people you could ever meet, to the point of being annoying. :)

Anyways, any time something bad happens, I always think about how much worse things could be. I've been there and done that. Barring Pres. Bush getting re-elected for a third term in office, it's all good. :)

When I was in college, I went through a bout of apathy. My cure was hate and anger. I strongly suggest you find your own. Ans yes you should care, Its your future you are risking.

Near-death experience.

Unfortunately you cannot bring about a genuine one. I've never had one either -- but keep reaching for that tunnel!
