The name of Karna's bow is PINAKIN. It is actually Lord Shiva's bow which was made for Lord Shiva by Vishwakarma, the architect of the heavenly devas. It was then handed over to Vishnuavatar Parashuram by Lord Shiva. Parshuram used this bow to conquer the world 21 times. However, the 22nd time, he used the bow, it was against BHISHMA PITAMAH.Parshuram lost to Bhishma when used the Pinakin bow against the latter.
PINAKIN or Vijaya is a better bow than even ARJUNA's Gandhiv and Krishna's SAARANGA. Thus this PINAKIN bow travelled from LORD SHIVA to Parshuram to Karna.

It is called with two names Vijaya or Pinakin
The story is :
On the seventeenth day of battle, Karna finally was given the opportunity to encounter Arjuna in combat. They were evenly matched during the spectacular combat. Karna had been gifted a bow by Parashurama called Vijaya(pinakin), one designed by Vishwakarma himself, which was superior to Gandeeva, Arjuna's bow.
