I think emotions is like an instinct to help you learn from your mistakes. Some people love wayy too much, and it causes them problems. Some people have bad tempers and get mad and do dumb things that they regret later. Some people are sad about everything, and think everyone is against them. Some people are so happy-go-lucky that they act like they don't have a care in the world. And some people take things waay too seriously.

Funny thing, these are the same people who don't know what went wrong when they won't try and balance out their emotions. They keep loving, hating, getting angry, being sad, ignoring everything, over and over again, and THAT'S what causes the pain.

Learn from your emotions. If something you hate to do is making you angry, you shouldn't be doing it. If someone you love is abusive, you must learn to not love that person. If being a nice guy all the time gets you in trouble, you have to stop helping out all the time. If you have a bad temper, take it out on a piece of paper, not on something living or valuable. Writing poems or just your thoughts (or having a good friend listen and write it out for you) is a great way to calm down. A mirror is good, too (but make it a point not to break it!!!).

One obvious difference between Instinct and Emotion: it's almost impossible to control instinct, but you can always find a way to control your emotions. If it's really bad, though, you can get help from a specialist, but that's not always the best way.

Cheer up, and good luck

Need for hunger? Thirst? The body system demands it for its being. Food for the mind is emotion. It is just there, whether you need it or not.

There are so many facets of emotion that are good. Empathy, feelings for fellow beings, an overwhelming peace within listening to a great music....... .Love. But if we allow that emotion to overwhelm us it might hurt us . We need to cope up with it and live with it till we live.

Need isn't the word. We have them and that is it. It is how you deal with them that makes or breaks you.
Time to learn some different coping skills to heop prevent hurting others and keep you out of trouble.

If we didn't have emotions we couldn't protest ourselves, or motivate ourselves. We also would n't be more than an animal with out free choice, a soul & feelings. It is just part of being human.

Without emotions, there wouldn't be thought. Only instructions carried out through a system of instincts etched into our dna. Thought is what led to feeling. Whether it feels good, or bad. It's foremost about how something makes u feel, that determines what you will do. Also, be glad you can be sad, because without sad, there can be no glad.

There is no reason for emotions. If there was a reason for emotion, then it would be reason, not emotion. Emotion is beyond reason, unlike anything else; it is the only unexplained, unexplainable, and unbelievable part of existence, because it is beyond thought, beyond human conception. Only humans have it, it does nothing for us towards our survival except in that it helps us to survive in the societies made after humans got emotion which would then be based on emotion themsevles, and is totally unlike anything else.

I believe that emotions are your Inner Guidance System telling you whether you are on your path to happiness or not. If I'm feeling negative in anyway, it means 'stop looking at something you don't like'. And if you do feel good, 'I'm on the right track.

Emotions are messages. They give you a message and you are open to say what they really mean.

I mean, same message can be understood differently. For example; "Love"(if it is an emotion) can be understood as "needing someone" so you find somebody but that person can be not matched with the love in your mind, so you suffer.

I can be understood as "understanding yourself"so if you love yourself, you love others and the person who you saw yourself in her/him becomes your lover.

IT can be understood as (like in 2nd example) "understanding GOD",so you try to understand the GOD and try to understand yourself.(like Mevlana)

Simply emotions are YOU! They are messages from yourself and YOU have to listen them carefully-not simply-to understand them. They can help you a lot if you understand yourself.

Emotions are necessary for the most basic instincts. Fear allows you to survive, love allows you to pass on DNA, anger allows you to compete, happiness allows you to know what you like.

I think it is what gives us freewill and the ability to be different from one another or else we'd be clones of each other.
