my last question was based on an annual competition in San Jose, "The last band standing" sponsored by a local radio station. classic rock station, the DJ is Greg Kihn, on kfox.com, it was beautiful to hear this rendition.
so my real question here is, do you have a station that has live music in the studio?

YES, I love music. Recently I went to the New Daisy Theater on Beale Street in Memphis to hear Paul Thorn -- it was great. Then we walked up to the Blues City Cafe and listened to The Dempseys play. Live music, especially in a smaller arena, refreshes me. There's nothing like it.

I'm not aware of a station in my area that has live music in the studio.

Believe it or not, not really. I am very passionate about music, but I can't really get into live music. A recorded song to me is special because I know what to expect. Every nuance is there time and time again. While I appreciate variations of songs, I need to get used to it to to really appreciate it. I have two recordings of a Pat Metheny song, one a studio version, and the other recorded "live" at a concert. On the "live" recording, there is a song where a single note isn't played during a solo that is played on the studio release. Just one note. When I listen to the live version, it bothers me every time that I don't hear that one note. Also, during another solo on the album, during a brief silent passage, someone in the audience yells "Way to go Lyle!", or something like that. I find that to be annoying too. I know that sounds picky, but I can't help it. That's why I don't go to concerts very often. I usually go just to see the performer do his/her thing. It's also agonizing for me to sit at a concert when my favorite musician is up on stage playing a series of songs I just don't care for. It's worse when the people around you are talking or making to much noise. If a song is special to me, I want to listen to it in private, with no distractions. Live music can't bring that to me. It's too unpredictable. Ok, I know this all sounds negative, and I don't mean to be, but I just prefer recorded music to live music. Live music isn't all bad, or I wouldn't go at all. I guess it's like the old adage, "It's a nice place to visit, but I wouldn't want to live there".
