I actually prefer the taste of pepsi, but coke commercials are so dam good! The marketing techniques are brilliant... because lamely, coke does actually make me feel happy when I think about all the great commercials they have.

If you want actual numbers here it goes :

Coke (ko) Grossed 23.104 Billion
Net Earning of 4.872 Billion

Pepsi (pep) Grossed 32.562 Billion
Net Earnings of 4.078 Billion

So, Pepsi earned more, but Coke is more profitable

total profits or just net???
I don't know about the actual $$$, but Pepsi is considered more successful by the business world. THat doesn't meen they are more profitable. Coke has had some problems legally in certain countries. I think it has to do with contamination. Also Pepsi has more success in arenas outside of Soft drinks(Sports drink, bottled water. etc). Coke is just playing Catch up. Coke still sell more coca cola though.

Coke does make more money than Pepsi, but Pepsi has been gaining and if you look at returns based on size Pepsi has had a slight advantage on rate of return. Coke is just so large and that is why they make more than Pepsi. Beside Coke does taste better.

It's Coca Cola because although more people drink Pepsi in US and parts of Canada, they have complete dominance in the beverage industry in other countries.

Although Pepsi is catching up and they own Quaker Oats, Frito-Lays and other companies as well.

It is hard to say...Coca-Cola is the global beverage company. The result is that it owns just over half the global market in soft drinks, compared with the 15 to 20 percent that PepsiCo controls. The strength of PepsiCo's beverage business is mostly in its home market, but having a strong beverage business is not the company's main interest. The key profit center is its Frito-Lay snack-food subsidiary.
