Have you ever noticed that no matter how many times you tell some people "I did that and believe me you don't wanna make the mistake", they still insist on doing the same dumb thing that you did? Yes experience makes people wise, but some people would rather learn from their own mistakes or have their own experiences than benefit from yours. But I guess it's that whole "What if" factor. It is in our nature to be curious and play the game of trial and error.

Being wise comes from experiences but not every experience creates wisdom. Making a mistake creates an experience but not necessarily wisdom. One can become wise though experiences that were not mistakes. Therefore it is not necessary to make mistakes to become wise. You might then say is it not wise to make mistakes.
How's that for an answer?

Well, you know the old adage, "everyone makes mistakes". I don't believe in that statement. In fact, I don't believe in mistakes. I believe in mishaps. The term mistake to me sounds so degrading. So, I think everyone does something they deem as being a mishap. However, there will always be at least one other person in this world that thinks you done the right thing. I say go with the flow in life, and when you think you've made a "mistake" shrug it off and continue. Never sweat what you have no control over, or can't change.

It seems that we do learn more from mistakes.
but just because someone has been through mistakes and trials doesn't mean they will take the oppertunity to learn and become wise.
Some people are more gracefully wise.....with less lessons & mistakes. Others seem to need to be hit over the head a hundred times and they still do n't get it.

yes i think you do need to make mistakes. no one is perfect. so there fore, just by observing and taking note on the right way to do something, i'm not ever going to be able to get it right every time (let alone the first time).
Wisdom is something aquired through trial and error of either you or others from the past. all you can do is study from other's mistakes and do the best you can.
"The Master said: 'For my part, I am not endowed with innate knowledge. I am simply a man who loves the past and who is diligent in investigating it.'" -Confucius

its really a nice question, i think to be wise, you should first live the real life and try and live all kind of lives, without mistakes never we will know ourselves , to know yourself first then to have the ability to know the others, if just we sit and observe everything around us without being in it, that means we will judge on the things from our view which we already have it in our mind, and maybe if we try to live what we really want then our view will be larger and we could have the ability to be wise, but what i believe also.. wise is a gift from god.. u born with having this talent..

That is how people learn by making innocent mistakes. There is no perfect person out there. Most people grow up and learn from their mistakes. It is sad to say that some people never learn.
