The heart condition might be considered a disability, and you might be eligible under the Americans with Disabilities Act to request that accommodations be made for your disability. The ADA requires that covered employers (with 15 or more employees) provide reasonable accommodations for people with disabilities. If there are other jobs you could do that don't require these hours, you might be able to request that. If the business demands this level of work, then the employer doesn't necessarily have to make the accommodations, and can fire you. If you specifically demanded Saturday and Sunday off, rather than just two consecutive days, your position would probably be weak.

Is the 10 hours a day, 7 days a week a continuing thing, or just in very busy times? That's a pretty wicked schedule for anybody, with or without health problems. If you're working non-mandatory overtime as part of that time, then you should be able to cut back without your job being in jeapordy.

Good luck.

First of all ask your doctor about the guidelines an employer has to follow if you present them with a medical excuse. Florida is a "right to work state" which means basically they can fire you for anything. Also, see if your condition qualifies as a disability. If so, you might fall under the ADA (Americans with disabilities act). This is federal law and they CAN'T get around that. Check this website and do some research. Good luck!

You would need to check the labor laws in your state, BUT actually, unless you have a contract, any employer can fire any employee any time they want. Some companies are kinder, some have policies to try to help you out, others make no allowances at all. At your work. there should be papers on how to contact state labor board posted in the break or common area, do a web search for the state labor board in your state.

If your still capable of doing your job, but not capable of working the long hours, The only way they can fire you is if you do not have proof from your Doctor saying you need to slow down. It is discrimination if they fire you, because you have an illness. If you are informing them of this information and they are against it, you may want to consider looking up information about employment discimination. If this means talking to an attorney do so.

You need to provide documentation to them about your health restrictions. ( keep copies for your records) They are required to try and work with you on your "disability". Otherwise you can file federal complaints and retain an attorney for damages.

If you have a Doctor's note then they aren't suppose to fire you.
