You must purchase the additional Harddisk for the core system.
Then you need to get the emulator for the old Xbox games. If you hav an Xbox Live account (the free silver account is OK), then your Xbox will automatically download the neccessary files.
Otherwise you need to download an Image from the Xbox site, burn it, and install it on your Xbox 360. If you don't have a burner, you can order a disc from Microsoft.
However, not all Xbox Games will work yet. You can see which games work, by going to the Compatibility page below.

yes you can, but u need to buy the optional hard drive because the 360 runs on a new processor unlike the play station. So it will download the drives. Not all games are compatible, look on xbox.com and check for them. U might as well get the $400 one because the core is 300, and the hard drive is 100 right their, and it comes with a wireless controller instead of a wired.

you can play the more popular xbox games(halo doom3 fable and halo 2 actually looks better on the 360) ok heres a list of all the compatible xbox games http://www.xbox.com/en-US/games/backwardcompatibilitygameslist.htm OK now all the games on the list wont work( black) because Microsoft update you with games through xbox live if you dont already have this i recommend you do silver membership is free gold is 7 bucks a month (golds worth it)
