This vast country has the principles of Democracy in its roots. though the monorchy was prevailin the kings were ruling the country in a democratic manner. India never toleterated the dictators and the worst being Indiragandhi.
2. The largest democracy in the world and basically ruled by illiterate voters of the country. The so called learned voters seldom visit the polling booth and they are fit to ge what they are objecting. voting should be made compulsory as it is one of the sacred duty.
3. Indian politics have tought lessons to political parties and politicians through its matured behaviour from elections to elections. the eg recently held chamundeswary constituency of Mysore wherrein the adament politician siddaramaiah though won, but wih very thin margin of 257 votes. the elections was so polarised that the other candidates from different parties not even reached four digit votes, among them one ex MLA was also included.
4. Unfortunately the democratic values are being shifted and now it is turning towards castes money and muscle power. All parties are now banking upon the major caste in the constituency.
5. Bihar tougt lessons to lallu because of free and fair elections conducted under the supervision of Mr. Rao. People like him are still there. country needs more sheshans more Raos to stremeline the process of elections.
6 Only democracy suits for this country and therefore the democracy is going to stay in INDIA which is the guidninfg factor for entire globe.

India is a biggest consumer market. So all the developed nations, including China need these markets to flourish themselves... India also has largest number of young people and cheap labour. But politically, it has been failing to play its cards carefully, independent of USA.

Have you ever heard of something called "realism" or "balance of Power Politics" (Realpolitik) It is a theory of international relations which postulates that rising powers are always a threat to the peace and stability of the international system.
India is very important to global politics because many states (like the USA, Japan, UK, Israel) view India as a strategic partner and one that must be courted to balance China.

Well most of your country is barely out of the stone age and you've got nuclear weapons, and you have a fanatical hatred with your nearest neighbor who also possesses nuclear weapons....Hmmm. Sort of like two drunken monkeys with handguns: someone should take you both out before you really start trouble.
