NO IT IS PUTTING ADVERSE EFFECT ON THE PROGRESS OF OUR COUNTRY. HERE PARTIES ARE ON THE BASED OF RELIGION, CASTES AND REGIONALISM. SOME WHERE PARTIES ARE ON THE BASE OF THE REGIONAL LANGUAGE. PEOPLE CASTE THEIR VOTE ACCORDING TO THEIR LOCAL PROBLEMS AND NOT NATIONAL ISSUES. THIS IS VERY DANGEREOUS FOR ANY DEMOCRACY. IN OUR CENTRE WE ARE NOT GETTIN STABLE GOVERNMENT FROM PAST TWO DECADES.

Multi party political system is good for any democracy, but the indian multiplication rate of political parties are too high.

India is made of number of different religions,languages.cultures and traditions.We have to have multiple party system to give representation to all those groups.DMK and SAD are examples.
