i have been working as a youth support worker for eight years now. and i have never seen as many kids on heroin as i see these days.
three kids i have been working with ages 15-17 have all started taking heroin in the past six months .
i asked them how they all got started on it and they all said they used to go to there dealer to by cannibis but there dealers cant get any to sell to them . the dealers make most of there income from selling cannibis but because heroin is easier to get hold of they started dealing that instead.and now more and more of our youths are turning in to herion addicts.our goverment need to sort this out soon .

despite promises to the contrary cannabis is still being demonised and the supply chains strangled by stupid backward thinking government policies, and added to by the vampiristic dealers who have realised that heroin is more lucrative. The problem will escalate until cannabis is legalised and people dont have to deal with the preying scum that will sell them more dangerous things when all they wanted in the first place was a smoke of hash etc. By trying to stamp out something relatively harmless they have caused a much bigger and more serious problem.

I find this hard to believe, certainly where I live. It's true that good cannabis is now virtually impossible to obtain but I don't think this is causing a rise in heroin usage.

Your question includes an implied link between cannabis use and heroin use which has been disputed and disproved many times.

However i don't know your personal circumstances, perhaps you are in an inner city area so I won't argue with you.

Personally I always thought that there was a direct link between heroin usage and lack of intelligence,

Because Bush and Blair have permitted the opium production in Afghanistan to flourish flooding the market with the deadly drug. I wonder who is profitting from that? This is all part of the war on drugs, which really is a cover for removing all mind expanding and enhancing drugs from the public, and replacing them with the designer drugs that bring everybody down. People are much easier to control when they do drugs that depress, isolate, and are so addictive. You can thank the Bush family and their friends around the world for this one. Sr. Bush started in this in Vietnam, and the family has had something to do with drugs and pharmaceuticals ever since.

Sadly because our politicians need to support the poor farmers of Afghanistan who thanks to the UK, USA, and NATO intervention are now the "Number 1" world producer.
It is a very short step in our corrupt systems to lose "a few tons" that get onto the streets.
Do not look for blame any further that our politicians, they are not burning the crops in Afghanistan as they should have, and you only have to look back a few years when the USA (CIA) was selling heroin to finance the Contras in the Iran/Contra scandal.
Its the POLITICIANS.

this is only my theory but since Afganistan was invaded the main source of their economy is opium poppy the Afgan government can`t ban it because growing opium poppy is the only income left available to a lot of people there so if they don`t grow it they starve .because of the enormous amounts of it that are flooding into Europe ,heroin is now dirt cheap to buy on the street and the price of it well within what young people can afford to pay

For the same reason there is any amount of any drug anywhere: becuase someone or many people therewish to purchase and consume it. Basically in the USA you can find in order of availability Meth--> Coke---> Herion--->Pills-->Pot. When people want to get high and they can't get the thing they want they go for the next easiest. You can get meth in ANY town in america with more then 12 people in it but you can't find a bag of grass to save your life. It is surely by political design.

maybe the government needs to license people to sell cannabis so the kids dont have to rely on dealers.i am hearing of the same situation all over the UK. heroin seems to be available more on the streets since the invasion on Afghanistan.

The deeper question is why people need to turn to any form of chemical comfort.
We should aim to be creating a society that is fulfilling for all so that pushers find that they do not have a market.
