Yes, the UAE is an islamic nation. I see where you are comming from and I agree with you in a few points.
Dubai wants the West to be attracted to it, to invest, to work and for tourism. All this brings a big western influence. On the other hand I have never seen another nation under forgein influence which sticks so much to their own rules. And I think that is great.
I agree with you on how some Westernes dress. Men and women. Especially when I see people during Ramadan running the streets or even going to the mall wearing shorts. But - please do not generalize. Not all Westerners are the same.

I love the UAE, I respect all rules - but I am also thankfull and appreciate the freedom I have in this Islamic country.

UAE is an Islamic country. As a Muslim expat I find UAE to be an example of modernization and tradition. As far as rubbish goes, nightclubs and bars are only found in hotels (not all hotels either). So I'm not really sure why a family with kids may have been out around midnight anyway. There are lots of family friendly places to visit and lots of things to do both culturally and eco-friendly. As far as people dressing poorly, Dubai has an expat population of apprx 85% and a few may not dress modestly. I've been to Kish in Iran and have seen women dressed poorly there. I've seen men and women holding hands together in bathing suits on the beachs. And do not think that because alchohol is banned there, that it's can't be found. If Dubai is not your kind of city then go to Abu Dhabi, Fujirah, or even Ajman. There are 7 different Emirates to go to in UAE, don't limit yourself to just one. Also there are thousands of Iranians investing in UAE so someone must like it over here.

The Emirate Of Dubai Is A 100% Islamic State, It Might look like a western influence state, but this is just to promote tourism, as far as rubbish is concern, you will find it in every cosmopolitan city of the world, which you might find it a little disturbing if you are from a very conservative society.

Lastly, the Govt. Of Dubai is making a conscious effort to get rid of all this Rubbish to make Dubai, a much more safer, cleaner and a family oriented city.

I really don't think it is your place to judge what someone else is wearing. If you didn't like the outfit a woman might have had on, then don't look at her, plain and simple. Just because Iran has obscenely strict laws, does not mean that the UAE has to follow the same path. I"m sure the heads of state of UAE know what they are doing.

If a woman wants to wear shorts out in the open, then that is her business. She'll be the one that will have to answer to God later, not you, her dress in no way hinders your faith or relationship with God. Maybe you should be more concerned about your dress and your faith, and not be so concerned about everyone else's.

When you say it is an islamic country it means it applies the Islamic things on it like Ramadan timing - Eid vacations and islamic cermonies for the public , rest of it is merely a business trend to attract tourist and expats ,so when you mention bars and pubs it has to do with the person who go inside these places not the country.

there is alot of Western Influence there, I have been to Dubai/Abu Daubi many times, they are islamic, but the younger jet set in the Islamic world is rapidly changing the culture. Come on they have the largest indoor Ski park In Dubai!!! that speaks volumes about the next generation of kids

If you don't like Dubai ,, simply don't come to Dubai,, being honest in dealing with yourself and other people, better than people who are covered some in their countries and when they get to any European country they undress all even the strings.. the woman who dress shorts ,,never asked you to look at her ,, so don't look and accept her as she may accept your beard and she doesn't stand you,,,, in very short statement,, accept the others same as they accept you and live both in peace and harmony
