I am a pretty descent drummer, but i want to make that really cool sound when you hit your toms and bass drum in sync and make the killer sound that seems so popular nowadays, i want to know if it is tom/bass/tom or tom/tom/bass i just need to know how to practice it to make the sound- a good example of the sound is the song "my name is mud by primus" although the sound is probably more intese because of the primus drummer

Yeah... I've been playing for a long time and it's tom/tom/bass. I have heard drummers use the tom/bass/tom and it also sounds cool but it doesn't sound quite as good.

I play the drums some, my general advice would be to just go and work it out. Beat those things until you find it.

In a slightly related point, I was just looking up some drum stuff over at youtube. Check out Bernard Purdie. I have watched the one called 'drums' which is 2:44 in length. The clip does not answer your question but it is good anyway.
