Not all of us have that issue. I have memory of when I was 2 or 3 going with my brother to school. I was his show and tell that day.

I remember being in my crib...so that is about 1 year old or maybe 1.5 yrs...also remember playing with my brother at certain houses when I was young....we moved every 2-3 years and sometimes more often...so if I remember a certain house I am sure of my age, and I have a lot of memories earlier than 3 yrs old, not all traumatic...tho I remember getting shocked by electricity as well!
I think pictures may help keep those memories alive for some people.

I do, But I guess how old you are can have an effect on it. You lose some memories as you get older. You have to exercise your memory for that. I can think of all kinds of stuff from that age and earlier. Simply sit down one day, or lay down at night in bed, it needs to be quiet, real quiet. Think of something to spark you memory and get it running, like trying to remember the last time you were on a swing set on a nice summers day. Try to go back further and further each time, trying to think of any memorable experience you had on a swing set on a nice summer day.For example. Or think of times you played in a pool, or the snow, or went some place with your mom and dad. I bet if you do that for long enough each day you will remember something. When you are first born, instantly, your brain starts making all kinds of new nerve connections relating to memory and other things. Like building muscle fiber when you work out. But before the age of two, your brain really hasnt made enough connections to remember anything significant. I hope that long, long answer helps a bit... lol.

well, i learned in my psychology class that we only remember things at a younger age if they are traumatic or sumthin like that.
psychology also says that we are programed to not remember anything that happends to use prior to a certain age --dependin on the individual. ...b/c it is through this age that a lot of things happend to us n our brain blocks these memories so that we will not be afraid later when we grow. for ex. in the first year, we learn to walk, but in the process we fall n get hurt, so our brain throws away that memory so that later, we wont be afraid to take steps b/c we might get hurt.
hope i could shed sum light :)
