I only have 4 days left until my due date but my blood pressure and protien are high. (Doing the lovely 24 hour protien test now.) and if that is high then my doc said she would induce me on Monday. What can i expect from the time I get to the hospital? I haven't asked her how she induces (what she uses) because I thought i would go into labor naturally even if it was a little late. I will ask her tomorrow when I talk to her about the test result but I just want to know other people's experiences.

If you aren't dilated at all, I'm not sure if they would do something differently for you than they did for me. I was 4cm and seemed to be dilating ok on my own, but needed some help chemically to get the contractions going better and make sure I got to 10cm.

First thing in the hospital they did was put me on the IV machine and get me an epidural (I was about 7cm by then). Overnight I had an IV with pitocin that helped the contractions get stronger and finish off the dilation to 10cm, after that my doctor broke my water when it hadn't happened on its own during the night. I didn't feel her actually break it, but I sure felt it afterwards (feels like you are peeing yourself, very strange).

She said breaking the water would be like flipping a switch on the process, and the was totally right. The contractions were strong and constant after that point, I had the baby less than 3 hours later. They never did remove the pitocin drip from the IV, but they did alter the strength of the drip as the situation demanded.

Best of luck to you both :)

It was 15 minutes later when my daughter was born after the induced labor on the wife.
