I hate to admit it, but yes. The fact is that there isn't a lot of people that would voice their views "in a respectable way."

I don't follow any "party line", though I'm registered as a Democrat. Sometimes I give a thumbs down because I don't like what a person has said, but not always. I appreciate a well-thought-out answer that makes sense, answers the question, and speaks to a legitimate point of view, or an opinion that makes sense--even if I don't agree with it. I will not give a thumbs down to those people. (I have even rated a point of view that is opposite mine as a Best Answer.)
I WILL "thumbs down" racist, slanderous, filthy, bigotry in a flash!

I believe most do unless their conscience hurt so much that they don't. Why else do they still join the party? When someone said that they didn't like Bush(in a respectable way), it is his/her rights, isn't it? Do note that he/she still respect Bush as the President of the US even though he/she didn't like him personally. As a show of support for Bush and the Republican Party as a whole, you ought to give him/her a thumbs down if you're a Republican though.

if the person put some thought into it... has a reason for what they believe... I certainly won't give it a thumbs down...
maybe not a thumbs up... if it's really good, with some fresh new ideas.. I'll give it a thumbs up though...
the nonsensical "conservatives/liberals are idiots, nazis, commies" questions usually get a thumbs down regaurdless of what they say... unless I'm just in a silly mood...

If I disagree with an answer, but it's well thought out, I won't vote. If I disagree with an answer, and it's moronic, I'll give a thumbs down.

I don't give a thumbs down if it's respectable. I only give thumbs up if I agree.

I am a republican. I don't believe anyone should cuss the president on here or in public. They can dislike him all they want or disagree with his politics. I disagree with some of them myself. I don't give them a thumbs down if they give there opinion in a decent manor. You can't please everyone all the time.

I often do that. I often give thumbs up to conservative people who say things I agree with and thumbs down to liberal people who say things I disagree with.
But there are times when I give idiots thumbs down no matter which side of the fence they are on.

Actually I like good questions from the opposing side and agree with g on this one. When it comes to name calling and insults, sometimes it is warranted

Parties only matter to Neoconservatives. Only right or wrong truly matters.
