My mum has recently had surgery to remove a lump in her breast. She will be getting the results back tomorrow afternoon. I am so worried that I can not eat or sleep. Is there anyone else who has dealt with a similar situation and can offer words of advice...

Thanks

Tough one.
The only advice I have is that you worrying will not help or change anything, and it is hurting you. You will get the results tomorrow, there is nothing at all that you can do to change what is going on, except perhaps to pray. But worrying is a waste of energy and is costing you emotionally.

Try to focus on being a support for your mom. Do whatever you can to make her more comfortable and feel the least bit better. When I have friends and family that need help like this, I try to set my own feelings aside so I can just be there to help them in any way possible. If she's at home, be sure she has eaten, has something to drink, is warm enough, cool enough, try to make her comfortable. Clean the house so she doesn't have to worry about it. If you have siblings, try to take care of thier needs to so your mom has less to deal with. You could even plan meals for the next couple of days...
And be sure you take care of yourself. Eat and take your vitamins and drink water and be sure to get some rest. Keeping yourself healthy and able to think and help her is important.
Best wishes.

My mother just recently had a mass removed from her breast and they also removed some of the surrounding tissue for good measure. Hers turned out to be benign so don't think the worst. My mother had to wait a week for her results and yes I am sure it is a longgggggggggggggg wait but remember it might not be cancer and if it should happen to be cancer then be glad they caught it early. You need to keep your health and strength up so you can be supportive for you mom even if it isn't cancer.

Get a book, any book, w/ good reveiws, and try to read it in the next 24hrs.....unless of course, your mother needs you, then, have her tell you stories about herself at your age...praying for you....good luck!

Talk to everyone you know.
Listen to your favorite music.
Talk to your God.
Watch mind numbing TV.
If you're creative, write about
your feelings
Draw or paint your feelings.
