i live in middle east and i want to buy a cell phone from USA. our carriers work on gsm networks?

our cell phones need a sim card to work. I found some cell phones that are "unlocked" will those phones work in here ?
is there any additional information i need to know beside that?

i will use a sim card from our cell phones company (phone from usa sim from middle east)

they should as long as you get a sim card with it...
