No. The government meddles in our lives enough already. I'll be damned if they're going to tell me that I can't have a drink.

Prohibition didn't work so well the first time around. Alcohol is just too easy to make. Anyone with a few empty barrels can try to make beer or wine, and get products about equal in quality to Natural Lite, or Boones Farm... although there's always the risk of methanol...
And of course, there's smuggling to worry about too. Frankly, I'm not too keen on passing laws that make criminals of millions of americans, and which are virtually imposible to enforce. Those sort of laws just make us loose respect for our police officers, and allows the police a good chance of being able to arrest anyone they want.
While I'll admit, it would be nice to enforce a prohibition on SOME people, I think that most of us can abuse alcohol responsibly without causing much more trouble than bouts of stupidity and liver damage.

And just what is the point of taking away the people's right to enjoy ethylated drinks?
In theory, there would be a steep improvement in certain public health areas, as well as DUI trouble and other matters.
However, if you forbid it, it will become one more illegal controlled substance, and generate a predictably huge black market. the first prohibition had to be repealed because said blackmarket in adulterated booze, as well as the incredible gangland violent crimemade the remedy worse than the ill.
Add to that the fact that even those who stop drinking will find something else to do, possibly worse... it's not advisable.
plus I'll personally shoot any lawmaker who votes to keep my booze away from me.

There is 'prohibition' now in Saudi, I have worked there for many years, the penalties are very severe, esp for ex pats, they lock you up and throw away the key. This doesn't stop booze drinking, it certainly cuts it back a lot.
You will of course get a load of religious nuts telling you that 'the demon drink' should be stopped as expected.
It will never happen, or at least not in my life time.So I am in the ranks of those who say the government are already taking away far too many of our liberties.

No, it will just drive alcohol underground, like in the 20's. We already have a serious drug problem in this country, though I am not advocating legalizing illicit drugs.

It would never work, there would be riots and outcrys, and then the illegal trade that would start. Elliot Ness tried to wipe it out, but it did not work, and even if we tried now, it still won't work.

No, prohibition please. I don't drink but Prohibition in the US was a big mistake and the Mob took over all the liquor works.
